Das Jahr 2012 war ein gutes Jahr für WordPress. Mit den Versionen 3.4 und 3.5 wurden etliche, teils lang ersehnte Features eingeführt. Die wichtigste Neuerung in 3.4 war sicherlich der sog. Theme Customizer, während 3.5 einen neuen Uploader, sowie ein komplett anderes Galerie-Management einführte. Insbesondere die letztgenannte Neuerung ist nicht auf uneingeschränkte Zustimmung gestoßen. Neben den Major-Releases sahen WordPress-Nutzer fünf Sicherheits-Releases.
